INFO:
The Domestic Front is the solo-project of Thomas Transparent - goodguy and man of the world. Eventhough he's currently located in Tulsa, Oklahoma, more than a few countries has been the base for his art, music and writing efforts. The Perfect Storm was concieved in both Tulsa and Toronto but draws from his many experiences with the sprawls of the world.
The global urbanization is a central theme to this release, and Thomas carves it out with pretty equal amount bitter condemnation and hopeful fascination. As a result, The Perfect Storm moves around the loud, the sad, the stressful and the ecstatic in 4 long abstract tracks, using every trick in the contemporary laptop book and several external soundsources - including an electric guitar, which is used to create airy melodic noisescapes pretty reminiscent of Tim Hecker.
As the 5th release on 8K Mob, Thomas aids this struggling label with widening the range into the digital / glitchy domain, but keeps it accessible to thoose of you who find the usual laptop-showoff exercises too weak and boring.

REVIEWS:
"Wie Architektur, auf die man die Hand legen kann"..."Pflichtkauf"
-Michael We for Nonpop.de - read the review in German or English

"The nerve and hecticness of the cities depicted [...] is shown excellent through the abstract noise of the music, with rapid changes against static hiss. This release seems a bit more electronic than before and also a bit more noisy, but it's altogether a pretty strong release anyway."
-Frans de Waard for Vital Weekly - read the complete review here

"The music fits this view of the world, as it is equally aware of the beauty of the supersized urban metropolis as it is of its gargantuan, shapeless inhumanity. Sharp piercing noises attack the ear in one moment, while heartbreakingly mesmerising drones come welling up from a pool of plaintive wonders in the next."
-Tobias Fischer for Tokafi - read the review here

"Digital noise certainly isn't my favorite type of musical discord, but thomas kept that aspect really varied and enhanced it with harsher noise as well as lighter ambiance, drones and forays into minimalism."
